What a Bunch of Clowns!

Hilary JonesClick Here for one of the most ridiculous stories you’ve ever read about the Labour and Lib Dem politicians on Derby City Council.

A bunch of Labour half-wits wanted a bit of cheap publicity.  To get it they charged into the council building with a signed petition on CCTV and a flock of journalists and cameras.  No one would take their petition so they knocked on the door of the council Chamber which was hosting a Lib Dem meeting.

Quite rightly, they were told that Lib Dem leader Hillary Joneswas busy and that they could arrange another time to present it to her.  So far so sensible for the Lib Dems.  What she did next though beggers belief.

She reported the Labour group to the Standards Board – this is an organisation that is supposed to deal with corruption and malpractice – not playground whinging.  The Standards Board spent time and money investigating this and noted that three of the accused Labour group weren’t even in the council building at the time!

So what we have is a desperate and publicity-hungry bunch of Labour councillors dealing with a pathetic and reactionary bunch of Lib Dem councillors.  I think it’s probably time for a bit of a shake-up in the politics of thic City – don’t you?

This is exaclty the type of reactio that turns people of politics. Why can you not stand purely on your own policies and principles? Instead all you (I use “you” to refer to all politicians as a group) do is resort to a childish playground pointing of fingers at the opposition.

    It’s pathetic really it is.

      Hi Tony,

Thanks for this. I’m not sure if your comments were aimed at me or the people mentioned in the post.

If me, I apologise if I’ve disappointed you but please feel free to look through the contents of this blog and notice that I generally try to write positive comments.

However, as opposition to both the Lib Dems running the City Council and the Labour national government, it is part of my job description to hold those with power to account. Where they use that power badly or where they waste money or where they act against the best interest of their voters, it is critical that I highlight these instances to voters. Failing to do so would be to undermine one of the fundamental pillars of our democracy.

I hope this helps explain this post but, rest assured, I’ll make sure I keep focussed on why a change in government will help make this country a fairer, greener and safer place to live.

      Jack
